Aloft

I’ve been untethered for awhile
Nothing glues me
Walking on sand
Feet fail me
Sore in places
Where toes meet stretched sinew
Ankles too
Complain at carrying
This bloated captain
Life bores me aloft
There’s cotton in my brain
Alighting on a dark present
I float back up
Indifference is solid
I can lean on that
Untethered, I defy the gravity
Of this ravaged planet

I knew this was a winner. Nice to be recognized on the blog.
