If I were a gifted artist, I would have painted her.

I would have painted those loving hands that moved mountains to care for her child.

I would have painted her penetrating gaze, full of understanding and wisdom

her dancing hair, which had been loved by many

her beautiful smile, which melted hearts

And I would have painted her bent posture, which had carried the weight of the world

and her wrinkled skin which had weathered hurricanes.

But, I am not one,

So instead I thank her from all of us, for what she is,

–life.
