Inside me is the ocean

The waves were very lively today
I followed one up a channel dug by a child
One tiny wavelet travelling up the snaky trench
Like a great tsunami in miniature
And then receding again,
Overshot by another
And then another
And another.
That’s the way the tide goes
I guess
In and up
And back and down
There is an ocean inside us
A tide for swimming
And a tide for rest
A great building up
And a great gathering back in
We want to take it with us
To take it further
We dig and we dig
We wait and we dig some more
And the tide rises
The tide falls
And then it rests
And breathes again

Excavation within the flow is an intriguing contrast. There is almost a rhythm of breathing in these lines too. Thanks for posting!
