My Dear Husband
Share your work with family and friends!

His name is Peter…..and miraculous as it may seem, he is 25 years younger than me! We’ve been married 22 years, and are happier with each other every passing day.

He came to me as a private acting student at my NYC studio and the moment I opened the door to him, I thought how gorgeous he was and how I dearly hoped he had talent…..I cannot accept a private student if they have no evidence of talent, true now as it was 25 years ago. Turns out, his song and monologues made me weep and I knew I had to take him under my wing.

And so I did….I’ve been writing a bit of a memoir about this strangely miraculous love, and all the odd and karmically wonderful things that led up to it, including the story of my first marriage to a dear man who turned to be a homosexual, and how his buying Peter and me two baby dachshunds led me to a veterinarian who soon became my first husbands lifelong love….the story of Peter, Paul, Stephen and me….

But back to the prompt for today: I love hearing Peter’s dreams and creative ideas, on every subject, wide and as far reaching as his genius takes his incredibly complex and brilliant mind….because , no kidding, Peter is a genius….he may not get all his ideas and dreams to become real, but he is a superb provider of both financial security and creative fun filled entertainment!

We moved from S.F. to a large house we bought in Michigan across a charming
meadow from his parents house….and his 102 year old grandmother!

And I want this house to be Peters project to do with as he envisions and desires. We lived my busy show business life for most of our life together, and now it’s time to live his dreams. Anything he wants to do with this house I will willingly support because I adore this man and his marvelous wild and wooly dreams…..at my age ( the same as his parents, by the way) I can’t do much in the way of physical helping, but my strength improves daily and our hefty investments and savings will carry us through to as much festive and creative fun as he envisions.

I’ve learned that the best way to show my deep love for him is to simply sit and openly listen to all he wishes and needs to say.

My love language is listening.
